Origin of the Name Robillard
The origin of the name Robillard was found in the allfamilycrests.com archives. Huguenots had left France settling mainly in England , Switzerland and Ireland . This name has a number of variants including Robilliard, Rebillard, Robillart, Robillot and Robileau. The name essentially means 'son of Robert' or 'little Robert'. An early bearer of the name was James Robillard who was recorded in London in the year 1739. A Joachim Robillard was recorded as having been Christened at Amboise, Indre-et-Loire, France , in the year 1541. From Europe the name Robillard spread to the new world of America and Australia. It is particularly found in Canada and in the New England part of the United States of America where the name has been further anglicized as Rebeor and Rubeor.
The Robillard coat of arms came into existence centuries ago. The process of creating coats of arms (also often called family crests) began in the eleventh century although a form of Proto-Heraldry may have existed in some countries prior to this.
